Tattoo Aftercare
Proper tattoo aftercare is one of the most important parts of getting a new tattoo. The way you treat your tattoo during the weeks following your session can determine whether or not your tattoo stays vibrant and lasts for many years, or fades away quickly and looks dull. Here’s what I suggest to keep your tattoo looking great.
Hustle Butter
Hustle Butter
While there are many tattoo aftercare products available out there, not all are created equal. I personally recommend Hustle Butter©, a product that was created by fellow tattoo artists. Their products help throughout all stages of tattooing and healing, and come in a variety of sizes and prices.
Clean the tattoo with mild, fragrance-free soap and water. Pat it dry with a clean, soft cloth. (Don’t rub it, and don’t pick at it)
Apply a Thin Layer of Ointment: I recommend Hustle Butter, but any tattoo-friendly ointment that keeps the tattoo moisturized and aids in the healing process will do.
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Protect your tattoo from direct sunlight during the healing process. UV rays can fade colors and slow down healing.
Avoid Soaking: Refrain from swimming or soaking the tattoo in any water, including hot tubs, for the first few weeks.
Wear Loose Clothing: Choose loose, breathable clothing to avoid irritation and allow the tattoo to breathe.
